55degrees.org is published by 55 Degrees Wine Cooler Service, an independent wine cooler repair business operating in the San Francisco Bay Area. Using the site means accepting these terms.
The information here is general
The technical pages on this site describe how wine coolers commonly fail and how we approach diagnosis. They are written from field experience and they are general. They are not a diagnosis of your appliance, and no page here should be read as a statement about what is wrong with a specific machine. Only a visit and measurement can do that.
Do not work on a live sealed system
Refrigerant work requires recovery equipment and appropriate certification under federal law. Nothing on this site is an instruction to open a sealed system. The maintenance we do suggest — cleaning a condenser, clearing a grille, checking a door seal with a dollar bill, putting a thermometer on a shelf — is safe with the appliance unplugged where it involves reaching inside.
The service call
The service call is $89. It covers attending the property and diagnosing the fault by measurement. It is waived when you book the repair with us. It is charged when you decline the repair, and in that case you keep the diagnosis and a note of what we found.
Quotations
Repair prices are quoted after diagnosis and before work begins. A quotation covers the fault identified at that visit. If a second, unrelated fault is found once a machine is apart, we stop and tell you before continuing.
Parts
We fit genuine OEM parts where the manufacturer supports the model. Where a part is discontinued we fit a specification-matched equivalent and tell you that is what it is before it goes in. Some parts are ordered against your model and serial and are subject to manufacturer availability, which we confirm before you commit.
Access and site conditions
Built-in and integrated appliances sometimes have to be removed from cabinetry to be serviced. Where cabinetry, flooring or trim has been fitted in a way that makes removal impossible without damage, we will say so before starting and let you decide how to proceed.
Brand names
Manufacturer names and model designations appear on this site solely to identify the equipment we service. 55 Degrees Wine Cooler Service is independent and is not an agent for, nor endorsed by, any manufacturer.
Availability of this site
We try to keep the information here accurate and current. We do not guarantee that every page is free of error or that the site is available without interruption.
